AN INDUSTRIAL PROJECT TAKING SHAPE
The first shipments of smart-tinting glass from the new factory of a US company located in Miaoli, Taiwan have begun since the end of 2018. They are top-range products for the building industry (skyscrapers) in North America and Europe.
ELMETHERM – AN OVEN FOR SMART BUT FRAGILE GLASS
Elmetherm has designed, manufactured and installed a vertical oven with 23 trays and a handling unit with conveyors for curing a polymer substrate set between two glass substrates. These parts measure 3050 x 1500 mm and are 1.2 mm thick ( !!) and each one weighs 5 kgs. It is a very fragile product to handle and to transfer. A specific handler has been designed by Elmetherm for this process.
GLASS INOVATION
This new large-scale factory is producing a smart-tinting glass, which looks like natural clear glass until it tints to darker neutral grays in less than 3 minutes, to block solar heat, reduce glare and protect from prying eyes.
